Introduction
Air Tightness Testing

The requirement for air tightness of buildings in the UK is driven by the Building Regulations. In England & Wales, the majority of new building projects will require air testing.

Improving air tightness is an important factor in reducing carbon emissions in buildings. By reducing air permeability, less heated/cooled air escapes and less unheated/uncooled air infiltrates which lowers space heating and cooling loads and greatly improves occupant comfort levels.

The BINDT L1A scheme for the testing of dwellings consists of individual members who have been registered by BINDT.
As part of this registration process, each individual goes through necessary competency checks as required by the Building Regulations approved document Part L1A.
