TWI Ltd
TWI is one of the world's foremost independent research and technology organisations. TWI has a long history of invention and innovation and work across industry sectors including oil & gas, power generation, aerospace, marine and construction engineering. We are experts in all aspects of materials joining and related technologies including non-destructive testing and guided wave technologies.

Guided wave technology at TWI is represented by Plant Integrity Ltd (a wholly-owned subsidiary of TWI) and the Long Range Ultrasonics Group. The two groups have 35 research staff and 8 Engineering Doctorate and PhD students.

Brunel University
Brunel University received its Royal Charter in 1966 as one of a group of Universities, including the likes of York and Loughborough, dubbed the 'Robbins' Universities focusing on a more applied and technologically led eduction.

Initially known for engineering and the social sciences, Brunel now offers a much wider range of academic disciplines and submitted to 24 Units of Assessment in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise.

The latest RAE represented another milestone in Brunel's Strategic Plan. Brunel entered 87% of our eligible staff which represented a 59% increase on the previous exercise and one of the highest rates of growth in the sector. Indeed our growth was four times the sector average.

With 82% of our research rated as of international standing (10% as world-class), we are now ranked 37th in the country in terms of Research Power. Indeed in the latest round of QR funding announced by HEFCE Brunel was ranked 30th overall.
