Job Details

The Submarines Business is the Technical Authority (TA) for the Ministry of Defence's (MoD) Submarine Nuclear Steam Raising Plant (NSRP).

Responsible for design, supply and in-service support, the Submarines Business is continuing to expand, with the development of a new Submarine plant and increasingly diverse Civil Nuclear work.

To support plant integrity, we're increasing our use of Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) methods and the formal qualification of the techniques. Inspection Qualification (IQ) plays a crucial role in ensuring continued integrity. This is enforced through the MoD's ongoing support of Rolls-Royce's involvement in European Network for Inspection Qualification (ENIQ).

Although based in Raynesway, the role of the IQB is distinctly separate and independent from the NDE teams working in Derby. Your primary responsibilities will include: supporting the IQB function, reporting to the IQB Chairperson as the Technical Secretary and helping to establish and manage the process of Inspection Qualification for the NSRP. You will also support and advise the TA on IQ requirements.

On a day-to-day basis, you will provide administrative and technical support, assist with the definition of scope of IQ as applied to specific components, generate and control IQ certification and advise the TA on the implementation of ENIQ requirements. You will also need to guide the TA on achieving the successful completion of IQ whilst not invalidating the integrity of the IQ process.

You will be educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline and be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of theoretical and practical aspects of ultrasonic inspection techniques. You must hold a Level 3 NDE qualification in ultrasonics. A working knowledge of the NSRP is preferred, but full training will be provided where necessary. Experience in MIPS/GUIDE Level 2 would be a significant advantage.

In return, we offer excellent development prospects coupled with the salary and benefits you would expect of an internationally renowned and successful organisation like Rolls-Royce.

We are an equal opportunities employer.
