Matrix Inspection (UK) Ltd is a specialist NDT company operating from a base established in Stockton-on-Tees last year. The company offers a range of specialised inspection services including acoustic emission, automated ultrasonic and guided wave UT testing.Matrix Inspection (UK) Limited is a subsidiary of IRISNDT and enjoys full support from this large, full service inspection and engineering company based in Edmonton, Alberta. Founded in 1953, IRISNDT supplies a wide range of services covering plant turnarounds, engineering, pipeline integrity, failure analysis and specialised NDT from offices in Canada, the USA and the UK.
Matrix UK is linked operationally with Matrix Inspection & Engineering Inc, founded in Houston, Texas in 1992 and specialising in acoustic emission testing and automated ultrasonics. Since then the company has grown to encompass phased array ultrasonics, guided wave ultrasonics, ACFM and tube inspection as well as highly developed acoustic emission and automated ultrasonic testing capabilities serving oil and petrochemical companies worldwide. Matrix Inspection became part of the IRISNDT group in 2004 and started the UK operation in January 2006 with the aim of supplying specialist ultrasonic and acoustic emission testing services direct to clients in the UK and Europe.
Matrix Inspection UK offers the full range of specialist inspection services and expertise encompassed by the IRISNDT group. Services supplied by specialist inspection personnel and equipment based at the Stockton-on-Tees Office include the following:
- Guided wave pipe inspection with the new GUL G3 system, said to be the most advanced of its type.
- Automated ultrasonic scanning for corrosion mapping, weld inspection and time of flight diffraction (TOFD).
- Phased array ultrasonic testing, both manual and automated.
- Acoustic emission testing covering a wide range of applications including pressure equipment, composites and remote on-line monitoring.
