Silverwing UK Ltd launches high-speed C-scan imaging system
Silverwing UK Ltd, a specialist corrosion inspection equipment supplier, is using Materials Testing 2007 to announce the launch of the RMS600 high-speed ultrasonic C-scan imaging system. The RMS600 is designed to operate at a scanning speed of 500 mm per second whilst capturing and storing the A-scan image, the C-scan image and the thickness measurement. The multi-layered data acquisition, analysis and reporting software suite has been written specifically for Windows Vista and the latest multi-core notebooks. The multi-tasking software enables the operator to capture data on a 2 mm × 2 mm resolution whilst scanning at 500 mm/s making the RMS600 one of the fastest C-scan imaging systems in the world. The RMS600 scanners have scan widths of 600 mm or 300 mm and utilise a 5 MHz immersion transducer, fitted in a fully gimballed probe holder, as standard. The scanners are able to inspect pipework with a minimum diameter of 250 mm (10 inch) up to flat plate. The scanner is held to the structure by magnetic wheels which are rubber coated to prevent damage to the inspection surface. The magnetic pull of 120 kg ensures the crawler remains attached to the structure no matter the aspect in which it is operated. A single combined 10 m umbilical cable supplies couplant, motor controls and data transfer. For larger structures, additional umbilical cables can be attached, using a unique easy fit connector, to extend it to a maximum of 30 m.
Silverwing will have an active display of the RMS600 on stand 20 at Material Testing 2007 and cordially invites visitors to see the latest corrosion monitoring equipment and services available.
