Stand 30
Founded in 1985, Struers Limited has continued to build on its reputation for providing materialographic preparation solutions using the highest quality equipment and consumables available for more than 20 years. A daughter company of the Danish Manufacturer Struers A/S and ultimately owned by Roper Industries, Struers Limited has the benefit of the pedigree of 125 years of product development and innovation in Copenhagen and the comfort that it is supported by one of the most market-driven investment companies around today. Based in the West Midlands in Solihull, Struers Limited is ideally situated to serve customers in the UK and Ireland and has a full working metallographic laboratory to help with sample preparation and provide solutions for customer problems. Customers include the likes of Nissan Manufacturing UK, Rolls-Royce, Airbus, Caterpillar and major universities. Anywhere, in fact, where there is a need for materials preparation in such a way that analysts can see the true, undisturbed structure of the material – the optimal state to determine a material's ability to resist any influence and carry out its mission.
The office consists of a team of administrators, metallurgist and lab manager and management who supplement the day-to-day work of field-based sales and service professionals – all of whom are focused on providing the best in terms of customer service and support. The Solihull office also houses superb training facilities for the IOM3 accredited Professional Metallographer Course. This is a three-day course designed for anyone with an interest in materials preparation and interpretation and details the science behind the development of sample preparation routes and how to choose the best equipment and consumables for the application. Currently, Struers Limited is also developing a range of Hardness Testing and Materials Testing Workshops to complement the demand for training and has also undertaken bespoke training courses for the likes of BNFL and Nissan.
With Danish design and manufacture all Struers equipment is made to the strictest of safety standards and is arguably the most ergonomic and user-friendly equipment currently available in the marketplace. Given the continued investment in R&D, Struers Limited also benefits from producing innovative and state-of-the-art preparation systems which focus totally on providing the best in terms of quality and usability in accordance with the 'Struers System'.
The Struers Materialographic System encompasses a full spectrum of products, systems, information and services for materialographic sample preparation. Here, equipment and consumables complement one another and preparation steps are also inter-complementary. By sharing knowledge with customers and providing outstanding service and support, long-term relationships aimed at optimising the customer's performance and business success are established. Here the Struers philosophy believes that excellent quality in every phase of the system culminates in an excellent final result, where focus is on optimal preparation time, optimal reproducibility and optimal lifetime costs. All Struers Laboratories can provide extensive cost per sample analysis where Struers minimises preparation cost per sample by optimising the contributing factors mentioned above along with maintenance and training requirements.
Currently the materialographic equipment range includes a range of cut-off machines, mounting presses, grinding and polishing machines (from manual to automatic systems), target preparation systems and electrolytic preparation apparatus. This is complemented by an extensive range of consumable products and accessories for the materials laboratory, along with NDT equipment for on-site preparation.
This commitment to the materials laboratory is coupled with world leading service and support and the best ancillary product business partners. For a number of years, Struers Limited has been working with EmcoTest for Hardness Testers, Media Cybernetics for Imaging Solutions and Galdabini Tensile and Impact Testers. A long association has also been developed with Köttermann laboratory furniture.
For 2009, Struers Limited has forged a new partnership with Olympus microscopes in the UK to meet the demand from the marketplace for high quality, materials-focused microscopy solutions. When coupled with Struers software products such as Scentis and the corresponding image analysis modules, a formidable imaging system with full blown analysis capabilities can be built up from very basic foundations. Finally, the availability of a web-based e-commerce site allows twenty-four-seven access to Struers products and expertise.
