UK Thermography Association (UKTA)

Institute Groups

UKTA, the UK Thermography Association, is a special interest group representing all the members of BINDT who are interested in thermography. It acknowledges the growing interest in thermography among a wide range of people involved in non-destructive testing and condition monitoring.

The enlarged UKTA covers all applications of thermography, that is uses of infrared imaging in which measurement is important. Membership is encouraged from the following disciplines: electrical, mechanical, building, aerospace, marine engineering, medical and veterinary imaging, research, camera manufacturers, accessory manufacturers, academia, remote sensing and trainers.

UKTA activities include conference sessions, seminars, newsletters, books and a website with a directory of practising thermographers at

BINDT members who want to join UKTA should simply contact the BINDT Membership Office and ask for the free UKTA membership. New members can opt for UKTA membership at the time of joining.

There is a new Thermography Committee within BINDT with representatives from all applications of thermography. This was set up in response to a general meeting in Northampton in February 2009. The Committee meets four times a year to manage the way in which BINDT serves thermography members in all fields.
