Licensed Engineering Practitioner (LEP)
The British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing (BINDT) has been licensed by the ECUK to operate a scheme for the Licensing of Competent Persons in the field of non-destructive testing. This is the first scheme established for licensing competence under the new regulations published by the ECUK.
The new scheme is designed to recognise both the competence and the commitment of NDT technicians, and is an important step forward in the recognition of the NDT fraternity in the wider engineering community.
Personnel on the register need to have current PCN certification, which satisfies the requirements of both European and International Standards for NDT Personnel Certification (BS EN 473 and ISO 9712), and should be in membership of the British Institute of NDT.
Personnel registered through this route will be entitled to use the post-nominal letters LEP.
