A leading manufacturer of flawed specimens in the non-destructive testing and evaluation industry is recruiting for a Quality Assurance/Quality Control Technician.

The main purpose of this role is to support the QA/QC Manager in ensuring the overall quality of the flawed test specifications produced. The QA/QC Technician will test materials before, during and after production to measure the characteristics of materials and ensure they conform to specifications.

The post holder will also support the QA/QC Manager in maintaining an audit trail for the duration of a product’s manufacture, keep accurate records and ensuring compliance with processes, as well as take part in some inspection activities.

Key performance areas:
  • Understand specified client requirements for manufactured goods and monitor all activities related to client’s requirements in line with the quality system
  • Work in compliance with the company’s current quality assurance (QA) programme, which is based on ISO 9001:2015
  • Check the implementation and outputs of quality procedures and QC activities in the workshop and NDT department, evaluating whether the quality of manufactured specimens conforms to specification. This includes checking final document packages for accuracy
  • Produce appropriate and satisfactory documentation that meets the client’s requirements and update any planning systems as necessary
  • Report regularly and monitor health & safety and facility management data and highlight any issues to the QA/QC Manager
  • Carry out corrective actions to systems and procedures as specified by outcomes of internal and external audits under the control of the QA/QC Manager
  • Liaise with customers on quality and inspection matters as required
  • Contribute to continual improvement of the quality systems
  • Work with both the UK and USA management teams to ensure compliance with the organisation’s QA/QC policies
  • Work with the team to communicate relevant information and implement countermeasures as required to reduce impact of quality losses
  • Keep accurate records of all data as required and in line with departmental procedures
  • The post-holder is expected to observe and comply with all company policies and regulations, for example code of conduct, health & safety, data protection, equality and diversity, etc.
Key attributes/person specification:
Essential:
  • Experience of maintaining quality assurance and quality control processes
  • Experience of working with quality management systems
  • Experience of checking and compiling reports
  • Understanding of health & safety procedures
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage conflicting priorities
  • Experience of achieving a high level of customer care in a customer-focused environment
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, able to deal with a range of stakeholders at all levels
  • Good attention to detail, with experience in following procedures and specifications
  • E-literate and competent using PC and associated networks and systems (for example Microsoft Office) to acquire, manipulate and disseminate information
  • Willingness to be flexible and multi-task as a member of a small team and also able to work resourcefully
  • Logical and numerate, with good problem-solving skills.
Desirable:
  • An understanding of AutoCAD, and a working knowledge of associated programs
  • Knowledge of the application of relevant quality systems and standards including European Standards and ISO
  • Knowledge of the range of welding techniques and processes.
