BGAS and NDT Senior Lecturer

TWI is the world leader in training for welding and NDT inspection personnel, working in over 60 countries, providing internationally recognised certification to individuals, industrial organisations and governments. TWI is seeking a BGAS/NDT Senior Lecturer to join our successful Training & Examination Services group.

Main duties and responsibilities include:

  • Teach and deliver BGAS knowledge and competence skills to external candidates
  • Teach and deliver NDT (CSWIP and PCN) knowledge and competence skills to external candidates
  • Develop examination questions that are relevant to course work and examining body specifications
  • Invigilate exams, conduct marking of examinations delivered world-wide in a timely manner, ensuring that standards are maintained and procedures applied
  • Assist with UK and overseas audits where appropriate
  • Liaison with Senior Managers and programme managers in the UK and overseas
  • Provide technical knowledge and assistance to other team members to ensure compliance with TES governance and procedures
  • Oversee the compliance of new training and exam technologies introduced into the TES welding programmes
  • Mentor and support other team members as required
  • The aim is to provide outstanding customer service, but with a business focus that will support the continued expansion and success of the organisation.  

The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Minimum of CSWIP/PCN and/or BGAS qualifications
  • Knowledge of TES products and services
  • Experience of teaching NDT/welding inspection
  • Organisational skills and good working and practical knowledge of all NDT/welding methods
  • Good communication and team working skills
  • Knowledge of internal and external audits
  • The ability to engage with emerging technologies, particularly applied to new teaching and examination methods.

Knowledge and experience of the following BGAS services:

  • Senior Pipeline Inspector
  • Senior Inspector (Welding)
  • Ultrasonic Testing
  • Magnetic Particle Testing
  • Site Coating/Painting Inspection
  • Radiographic Testing
  • Agricultural and Environmental Inspection    
  • Knowledge, experience and certification in two or more NDT methods to CSWIP/PCN level 2.

This position requires some UK and international travel. This is an opportunity to play a leading role in an expanding organisation, shaping and adapting the operations to meet customer and business needs.

This is a full-time role (36 hours per week).
