A Composite Manufacturing Engineer is required for a 12-month contract in Stevenage, Hertfordshire.

The purpose of the role is to develop and improve the manufacturing processes for complex composite components and assemblies, supporting current production as well as the introduction of new products into the manufacturing and supply chain environment.

Core responsibilities:

  • Provide significant expertise in developing a range of engineering solutions to improve the manufacture of new and existing composite products
  • Participate in developing and maintaining documentation for manufacturing processes and designs
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analysing and planning work flow, space requirements and lay out
  • Transfer new products into production and lead first article inspection (FAI) process
  • Confer with customers and suppliers in order to evaluate requirements and implement robust engineering solutions
  • Solve problems in straightforward situations; analyse possible solutions using technical experience, judgement and data.
Key requirements:
  • Degree in relevant engineering field or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Minimum of five years’ relevant experience
  • Excellent knowledge of composite materials and manufacturing processes including but not limited to pre-preg, sandwich constructions, autoclave cure, adhesive bonding and NDT techniques
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and six sigma
  • Experience in completing first article inspection reports (FAIRs) (AS 9102 FAIR experience preferable)
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft and statistical analysis tools.
