A leading NDT company specialising in the design and development of both manual and automated equipment for the manipulation of inspection transducers, supporting its worldwide NDT field service division, is seeking a Junior Workshop Technician. Projects typically range from remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV)-deployed subsea inspection equipment and topside remotely operated inspection equipment to manually operated scanners.

Job summary:
A highly motivated Junior Workshop Technician is sought to work as a key member of the company’s equipment delivery team based in Warrington. With support, responsibilities will include:
  • Mechanical, electrical and electronic assembly/test of equipment working at component level
  • Provision of fit-for-purpose equipment in support of field services projects
  • Fault find/repair/test of equipment following field service projects
  • Equipment pressure testing, PAT testing and calibration
  • Mechanical manufacture using machines such as lathes and milling machines
  • Liaising with equipment managers to ensure project requirements are met
  • Specification and procurement of parts in relation to mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Providing guidance to junior members of staff
  • Packing, shipping, delivery and collection of equipment
  • Ensure all equipment meets quality standards
  • Maintaining stock (ultrasonic probes, cables, consumable items, etc)
  • Maintaining a clean and tidy workshop environment.
Qualifications/experience:
To be successful in this position, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or ability required:
  • A college-level mechanical or electronics qualification
  • A minimum of three years working in a mechanical, electrical or electronic assembly environment
  • Ability to work under time constraints and meet agreed deadlines
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or in a team and provide guidance to others
  • Full clean driving licence
  • Familiarity/competency with Microsoft Office tools
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
