A world-leading manufacturer and service supplier of compressors, pumps and large rotating equipment solutions is looking for a Mechanical Workshop Technician to join its close-knit workshop team. Globally operational, the company’s customers are based within the oil & gas, petrochemical, refinery and turbine industries. 

Role and responsibilities:

  • The focus of the position is to be part of the workshop engineering team, carrying out servicing, repair and overhaul of heavy rotating mechanical equipment and components
  • Working with compressors, pumps and large rotating ancillary equipment 
  • Disassembly and reassembly of various mechanical equipment 
  • Workshop machining – manual and CNC turning, milling and surface grinding
  • Component strip-downs, inspection, failure analysis and reporting
  • Non-destructive testing (NDT)
  • Final inspection of equipment, parts and components 
  • Preparation and packing for dispatch
  • Stock management.
Knowledge, skills and experience:
  • This role would suit an experienced workshop technician/hands-on mechanical engineer
  • The applicant must have served an appropriate mechanical craft apprenticeship
  • Knowledge of rotating equipment would be an advantage
  • The applicant must have at least an NVQ Level 3  in mechanical craft engineering
  • The applicant needs to be a proactive, dedicated, accurate and professional person
  • The applicant must have at least seven years’ relevant workshop experience 
  • The applicant must be able to carry out mechanical machinery maintenance, strip-downs and overhaul
  • The applicant must have fitting, turning and CNC machining experience.
Benefits package:
  • Hours: Monday-Friday, 8.30 am-4.30 pm
