Pudsey Test & Inspection Ltd has been providing specialist non-destructive testing services throughout the UK for over 30 years, offering inspection of pipework, pressure vessels, structural steelwork, castings, forgings, wrought products, fabrications, precision components and sub-sea assemblies.

The company is offering an opportunity for a Non-Destructive Testing Engineering Apprentice to further develop their existing skills while working towards obtaining internationally accredited qualifications. 

The role will involve a practical approach and both manual lifting and lifting using mechanical aids such as fork lift trucks and overhead cranes (full training provided).

Day to day duties:

  • Perform non-destructive testing services, both on site and at clients’ premises, according to the successful candidate’s qualifications
  • Interpret and evaluate test results in accordance with applicable codes, standards, specifications and procedures
  • Prepare written NDT reports.
Desired skills:
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Word/Excel).
Personal qualities:
  • Self motivated
  • Enthusiastic approach to learning
  • Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Desired qualifications:
  • GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent) in maths, English and science.
Future prospects:
  • Full-time post upon completing the apprenticeship
  • Pay review on successful completion of external training course and on successful completion of the apprenticeship programme.
Candidates already holding accredited qualifications will benefit from an increased starting pay/hourly rate.
The successful candidate will work towards a nationally recognised non- destructive testing qualification, along with the opportunity to gain functional skills qualifications in maths and English.

The expected duration of the apprenticeship is 24 months.

Possible start date: 17 December 2018. Hours: 35 hours per week. Monday-Friday: 7.30 am-4.00 pm.
