Job purpose:
  • Checking product quality at the necessary stages, as defined in procedures or contract specifications
  • Assisting the Quality & Environmental Manager in the maintenance of the quality system and carrying out audits as required.

Main duties and responsibilities:
  • Completing final inspection of finished goods and releasing to the customer, including the preparation of document packs
  • Overseeing the non-destructive testing activities and putting measures in place so that all equipment is checked and work is being carried out
  • Carrying out goods inwards inspection to check quality is acceptable, paperwork is correct and then releasing goods on the ERP system (Javelin)
  • Collecting and inputting scrap reports for the key performance indicators
  • Carrying out audits regularly, as defined in the schedule in the quality manual
  • Making visits to customers and suppliers as and when required for audits or other reasons
  • Liaising with other departments on matters affecting product quality
  • Maintaining the highest level of 6S/Lean ways of working
  • Following all policies, process flows and standard operating procedures in respect to health, safety, quality and environment
  • Highlighting any hazards or areas of improvement surrounding health & safety to the relevant personnel.

Job-related skills, knowledge and general attainment:

  • Engineering qualification ie ONC/City & Guilds or equivalent
  • Time-served apprenticeship
  • Experience working within a manufacturing environment and with quality management systems
  • Experience using problem-solving quality tools
  • Analytical skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Good IT Skills.

  • Experience and qualifications in NDT techniques, including ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle inspection (MPI) and dye penetrant inspection (DPI)
  • Experience of working with ERP systems
  • Working knowledge of 6S/Lean management methodology
  • Experience in statistical process control techniques
  • Experience in the use of failure mode effects analysis (FMEA) process flows and control plans
  • Qualification and experience in internal auditing
  • The ability to analyse data, identify key problems and implement solutions.

37 hours a week (overtime as and when required). Monday-Thursday: 7.30 am till 4.15 pm, Friday: between 6.00 am and 12.00 pm (four hours maximum, depending on business needs).
