Primary Components Operations (PCO) at Rolls-Royce is going through exciting times and delivering significant change. PCO manufactures components that form part of the submarine propulsion plant which are subjected to a variety of NDE inspection techniques. NDE techniques are specialised for their application and are often developed from base principles.

The NDE team is part of the Manufacturing Engineering department whose aim is to develop, implement and govern capable methods of inspection for a wide range of components and geometries throughout the manufacturing lifecycle. We develop techniques across all NDE disciplines; radiography, X-ray and ultrasonics, including phased array and time-of-flight diffraction. We’re looking for a variety of people, from those who are experienced in NDE, to those who have no experience but would like to learn. Our nuclear business is a leader in propulsion system design and development for the Royal Navy's nuclear submarine fleet and the sole provider and technical authority, managing all aspects of plant design, safety, manufacture, performance and through-life support. Key Accountabilities:
  • Developing NDE procedures (ultrasonic, radiography, dye penetrant and magnetic particle) required for the inspection of product in manufacture.
  • Ensuring customer and business requirements for safety, quality, cost and delivery are met, as well as compliance to design intent.

Qualifications
Essential:
  • Educated to degree level in an engineering discipline or able to demonstrate equivalence via a trade apprenticeship or significant working experience.
  • The ability to project plan, lead your own technical project and work with expert mentors to develop the skills to complete it.
  • Good degree of tolerance for managing pressure/stressful situations.
  • Capable of working and managing multiple tasks and programmes.
  • Excellent IT skills.

Desirable:
•    PCN Level 2 in Radiography.
•    PCN L2 Ultrasonic Testing of Welds.
•    PCN L2 Liquid Penetrant.
•    PCN L2 Magnetic Particle.
•    PCN L3 in Radiography.
•    PCN L3 in Ultrasonic Testing of Welds.
