| Description: | Whilst providing a broad spectrum of school or site-based training, the SWSNDT has been noted for its aerospace and defence activities.Training and examination are routinely conducted in the five major NDT methods with additional specialist courses, including metallurgical and chemical disciplines, thermography, laser shearography, magnetic Barkhausen noise testing, hardness testing, conductivity testing, tensile testing, composite material inspection, acid etch inspection, anodic flaw detection and heat treatment, all arranged according to client needs. Working within the PCN, SNT-TC-1A, NAS410 and EN4179 schemes, courses are deliberately kept small, with the accent on practical and theoretical training rather than lecturing. Particular attention has also been paid to the compilation of specific training and examination programmes for clients employing specialist or automated inspection methods. In order to fully support clients' needs, the SWSNDT is an authorised qualification body for PCN Aerospace examination, and a BINDT Outside Agency for Level 3 services and EN4170 examinations.The school also acts as an examination centre for Argyll-Ruane Ltd, providing training and PCN examinations for the industrial sector. In addition, NDT Level 3 Consultancy Services are provided via centrally certificated ASNT and/or PCN Level 3 engineers.
