The UK's premier forum for thermography professionals

The UKTA is a group representing all the members of BINDT who are interested in thermography. It acknowledges the growing interest in thermography among a wide range of people involved in non-destructive testing and condition monitoring.

The UKTA (UK Thermography Association) is a BINDT special interest group that
covers all applications of thermography – that is, uses of infrared imaging in which measurement is important. Membership is encouraged from the following disciplines: electrical, mechanical, building, aerospace, marine engineering, medical and veterinary imaging, research, camera manufacturers, accessory manufacturers, academia, remote sensing and trainers.

For further detailed information about thermography, visit the resource page here.

UKTA activities include conference sessions, seminars, newsletters and books.

Individual members of BINDT who wish to be affiliated to the UKTA special interest group should contact the BINDT Membership Office and ask to join the UKTA special interest group.

New members can opt to join the UKTA special interest group at the time of joining BINDT.

Corporate membership of BINDT is available for companies and organisations. Corporate members can nominate two employees and, as with individual members, these individuals may be opt to be affiliated with the UKTA special interest group.

Benefits of membership

User groups
Join the user and working groups that interest you and meet others with similar problems and experience in thermography applications, including:
  • Building fabric
  • Plant condition monitoring
  • Electrical
  • Process monitoring
  • Non-destructive evaluation
  • Remote sensing
  • Medical/veterinary.
Network/information exchange
Network and information exchange with other thermography practitioners and those related to the profession. The UKTA liaises with thermography networks and user groups worldwide, including those of all equipment manufacturers. International networking is assisted by affiliation with the European thermography association.

Training and certification
Receive training in thermography and its applications from the UKTA member companies and accredited training organisations. Get thermography certification to the latest ISO standards to help show your competence in thermography and its applications.

All full members receive Insight, the monthly journal of the British Institute of NDT, and its NDT News and Condition Monitor newsletters.

Help develop standards that will maintain high levels of professional excellence in thermography. The UKTA is represented on British and International standards bodies. Tap into the experience of others to identify quickly what works and what does not, improving and continually upgrading professional standards.

Meetings and seminars are held at convenient locations around the UK. These comprise technical awareness presentations, site visits and demonstrations, sometimes followed by a business meeting or the AGM.

Conferences and events
Thermography conferences are held at different locations worldwide each year, organised by national or international associations. The UKTA participates at the British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing’s well-established Condition Monitoring Conference, held every summer, and its Non-Destructive Testing Conference, held every autumn. Members of the UKTA are able to book places at many thermography-related conferences at reduced rates.
