A company that specialises in the design and manufacture of large complex structural wing assemblies, detailed metallic components and wing systems for a combination of both civil and military aircraft is seeking a Level 3 NDT Engineer (PFD). The successful candidate will work within the S46 – Test Department at the company’s Filton site, providing non-destructive testing (NDT) services to various engineering functions.

The role:

  • Approving and managing penetrant flaw detection (PFD) Level 2s and trainees
  • Reviewing and approving procedures, instruction and techniques
  • Performing tests on various types of aircraft and non-aircraft, materials, components and structures
  • Undertaking investigations on and into NDT-related problems or issues
  • Auditing of NDT suppliers, including monitoring their accreditations, Nadcap, etc
  • Reporting on NDT matters
  • Supervising and, if necessary, training all levels of NDT resource
  • Creating, reviewing and approving NDT procedures, instructions and techniques
  • Ensuring all relevant procedures, instructions and techniques are complied with
  • Performing NDT inspections
  • Providing reports on NDT matters as required
  • Communicating with customers and suppliers as required
  • Complying with all health and safety requirements.

Qualifications:

  • The successful applicant must be qualified to EN 4179 Level 3
  • Knowledge of material specifications and their associated testing criterion
  • Capable of producing concise reports
  • Conversant with Microsoft Office IT processes
  • Verbally proficient when discussing non-destructive testing and related matters with all levels of 
    staff.
