The successful candidate will be responsible for performing regulatory and statutory inspections on overhead travelling cranes, hoists and lifting equipment as well as carrying out specialist consultation surveys and studies to assess the condition and reliability of the customers’ equipment, with consideration to the equipment’s usage against its original design and duty.

The main responsibilities will include:

  • Completing the schedule of monthly inspections, surveys and studies, ensuring planned works are completed
  • Understanding sold work hours and performing inspections within the allowed hours without compromising safety or quality
  • Performing inspections of equipment, documenting findings and making corrective recommendations to the customer
  • Consulting with the customer regarding all production- and safety-related issues and discussing recommendations that will assist them in improving their material handling applications.
  • Applying the contents of LOLER and PUWER or regulations pertaining to the industry
  • Completing inspection and consultation service reports, discussing production or safety issues and customer feedback received during the visit review.

What the company is looking for:

  • Apprentice-trained or equivalent and fully conversant in engineering and maintenance tasks and activities
  • Experience of inspecting lifting equipment, including visual inspections, and familiar with survey tasks such as NDT, vibration analysis and thermal imaging
  • Demonstrable experience of overhead cranes, hoists and relatable equipment
  • LEEA qualifications or equivalent
  • Experienced in carrying out LOLER and PUWER inspections and completing written reports and statutory certifications
  • Knowledge of the associated risks when working at height
  • Strong interpersonal skills, as there is extensive customer contact
  • Proven commitment to safety
  • Must be able to climb a ladder and able to work at heights
  • A current driving licence.

The role is based on 39 hours per week, with the option to work either four or five days.
