A successful and highly recognised leading international manufacturer located in Droitwich is seeking an FPI Level 2 to join its team, initially on a six-month full-time contract, to take responsibility for the inspection of products for surface defects to client specifications in line with standard operating procedures, work instructions and process parameters to ensure that quality standards are achieved in the product.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate previous experience in a similar role, preferably within the casting, automotive or steel manufacturing industries and will possess a great eye for detail. 

Main duties:
  • Setting up testing equipment
  • Preparing solutions, cleaning parts, applying fluorescent penetrant solution, washing parts, developing them and drying and otherwise processing parts through the FPI line 
  • Complying with standard procedures for checks on equipment and fluids
  • Performing the inspection tests using dye penetrant and UV light methods
  • Interpreting and evaluating results according to applicable standards, codes, specifications or procedures
  • Preparing fluorescent penetrant inspection written instructions
  • Carrying out and supervising all tasks at or below Level 2
  • Providing guidance for personnel at or below Level 2
  • Reporting the results of the fluorescent penetrant inspection tests
  • Labelling each part and ensuring part and core numbers match and correctly correspond to job card
  • Accurately recording all defects, scrapped parts and damage onto the database.
Desired skills and experience: 
  • Must have sufficient training in the principles and applications of radiographic methods 
  • Have satisfactorily completed a period of on-the-job training, conducted under the supervision of a Level 3 individual certificated in the applicable fluorescent penetrant inspection method
  • Previous experience of working within the casting, automotive or steel manufacturing industries 
  • Experience of using NDT, ie penetrant testing methods and anodising, acid etching techniques, etc
  • The ability to achieve deadlines and targets consistently while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
This position offers the opportunity to progress quickly and an immediate start is available for candidates who can demonstrate all of the above requirements. 

A highly competitive hourly rate plus shift allowance is offered in return. 

This position is 37.5 per week, double days with rotating morning/afternoon shifts: 5.30 am-1.45 pm one week and 2.00 pm-10.00 pm the next, with an early finish on Fridays.
