Job details:
Due to a heavy workload and recent contract wins, a privately owned engineering specialist that is a market leader in innovation in site investigation is looking to recruit a team of graduate engineers and technicians to undertake structural testing and site investigation work. The successful candidates will provide bespoke investigation, analysis and consultancy services on a wide range of historical and modern building projects and other structures, both across the UK and internationally.

Working on site, the successful candidates will be involved in building site investigation and geophysical testing services on a range of historical and modern projects. The role offers excellent long-term prospects and a track record of promotion from within.

This is an exciting opportunity for either an engineering graduate or a HNC/D-level candidate with a background in civil and structural engineering, the built environment, the geo-environment or construction. The graduate engineers will be involved with structural building surveys, using radar, thermal imaging, photo imaging, laser surveying and NDT. In due course, the role will include some data presentation, basic report writing and use of AutoCAD. Training will be provided in the use of the material sampling equipment, site practices and data collection.

Applicants will need to live locally enough to Cambridge so they can work from the office on non-site weeks and must be willing to travel to site as required by the client’s needs, typically for a one- or two-week period, reporting back to the office. The role involves working as part of an investigation team, and a practical background, an interest in problem solving and a willingness to work in a site environment are required, as well as a full UK driving licence.

Previous experience in site investigation, geophysical testing or building maintenance would be beneficial. Self-motivated people with degree or HNC/D qualifications in civil, structural or environmental engineering, earth sciences, geophysics or geotechnics are of particular interest.

This role offers long-term career development and future travel opportunities. The salary will reflect relevant experience. Transport expenses, accommodation and food allowances will be paid for site work as required.
