Job details:
Graduate Investigation Engineers and HNC/D-level Technicians are required with a civil or structural engineering background. Working on site and from the hiring company’s Cambridge office, the successful candidates will help to provide site investigation services to clients and engineering consultants. Excellent long-term prospects, including a track record of promotion from within and potential future travel overseas, are offered in return.

Due to a strong workflow and recent contract wins, the hiring company is now looking to recruit a team of graduate engineers and technicians to undertake structural testing and site investigation work. The successful candidates will provide bespoke investigation, analysis and consultancy services on a wide range of historical and modern building projects and other structures, both across the UK and internationally.

This opportunity will suit a recent graduate civil engineer or graduate structural engineer looking for something different to the typical design route: a technical and site investigation role dealing with building structures. The role will be involved with structural building surveys, using radar, thermal imaging, photo imaging, laser surveying and non-destructive testing. In due course, the role will include some data presentation, basic report writing and use of AutoCAD. Training will be provided in the use of the material sampling equipment, site practices and data collection.

Candidates will need to live locally enough to Cambridge to be able to work from the office on non-site weeks and be willing to travel to site as required by the client’s needs, typically for a one- or two-week period, reporting back to the office. Working as part of an investigation team, the successful candidates will need a practical background, an interest in problem solving and a willingness to work in a site environment. A full UK driving licence is essential.

Previous experience in site investigation, geophysical testing or building maintenance is beneficial. The company is particularly interested in self-motivated people with qualifications in civil and structural engineering or geophysics at HNC/D and degree level.
