Job details:
An Inspection Engineer is sought for a minimum of eight months, with the potential to develop to a long-term or permanent contract.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • To lead inspection plans and monitoring on pressure vessels and atmospheric vessels, piping, safety valves and hoses, in compliance with  regulations and plant asset integrity procedures
  • To manage the informatics and paper technical archive
  • To be able to read any drawings required, such as pipework isometrics or tank general
  • arrangements
  • To ensure that the best and innovative inspection
  • techniques  are chosen
  • To cover the role of operative contract manager, for the contracts of inspection maintenance and for the ‘technically high-skilled’ contracts
  • To liaise with third-party inspectors and service providers
  • To produce reports detailing the findings of asset inspections, collate third-party reports and other relevant documentation and ensure that these are filed electronically in ANTEA Inspection

  • To make sure assessment is conducted by a competent person and inspection reports are made to determine whether assets are fit to return to service and for how long
  • To manage the risk-based inspection (RBI) process by convening teams drawn from other departments in order to assess the risk and likelihood of potential failure mechanisms and to determine how these mechanisms should be managed
  • To conduct post-inspection and other periodic reviews of RBI assessments
  • To lead the actions from inspections (recommendations, mandatories): create notifications in SAP and monitor the scheduling of work
  • Gather and examine maintainability data to define repair techniques/principles/procedures with the goal of continuously improving the reliability of systems. Process fault reports and provide support to the manager, including detailed routine calculations, using appropriate indices for monitoring the failure events
  • Look after the definition of parameters and necessary techniques/methodologies to carry out preventative maintenance plans.

Desired qualifications/skills experience:
  • Minimum Level 8 Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework, with at least two years’ experience within a top-tier COMAH petrochemical site as a reliability and inspection engineer
  • Knowledge of ANTEA Inspection Manager, SAP and Microsoft Office (Excel and Access) and knowledge and experience of inspection analysis techniques.
