Risktec Solutions Ltd, part of the TÜV Rheinland Group, is an independent and specialist risk-management consulting and training company.

The company is currently seeking Integrity Engineers and Welding Integrity Engineers to join its expanding Asset Integrity Team based in Derby.

Positions are available for experienced engineers, as well as engineers in the earlier stages of their career.

Successful candidates will be working as part of an energetic and driven team of recognised industry experts. The focus of the team’s activities is the conventional power and clean energy sectors; however, the company also delivers consultancy and inspection services for wind turbines, oil & gas facilities, nuclear, defence and chemical plant. 

Candidates with experience of some or all of the following are of particular interest:

  • Power plant inspection (for example steam and water pressure parts, tubing surveys, support surveys), with an understanding of materials selection, damage/degradation mechanisms and life assessment
  • Integrity assessment of defective components (for example reverse code calculation, fracture mechanics and finite element analysis)
  • Metallurgy, failure analysis and root cause investigation – experience in high-temperature degradation mechanisms, including creep, would be a particular advantage
  • Legislative compliance, for example the UK PSSR
  • Boiler/pressure parts design and plant modification in accordance with recognised codes
  • NDT – a good awareness of the various techniques commonly employed, along with their strengths and limitations
  • Welding integrity – experience in the repair of service-aged components would be a particular advantage
  • Outage project management/coordination
  • Power plant operations and maintenance
  • Excellent organisational, problem-solving and communication skills.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Providing technical support and advice to clients 
  • Developing risk-based inspection strategies for clients
  • Visiting sites to carry out plant inspections
  • Carrying out assessment of inspection results, ie making run/repair/replace decisions 
  • Producing proposals/tender return documents
  • Producing formal technical reports and other project deliverables on time and to budget
  • Managing and developing relationships with clients
  • Developing new business and managing projects
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of standards, legislation, good practice, methods, data and use of appropriate software
  • The role will periodically involve travel, both within the UK and abroad, to meet project requirements.

Required qualifications:

  • Minimum of a degree in science, engineering or a related discipline
  • Minimum of three years’ industry experience.
