Mechanical Design Engineer

A specialist manufacturing and engineering company focused on delivering high-quality process equipment packages is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to take on exciting engineering challenges that make a real impact and join a team helping to shape the future of the business. The company’s facility is equipped with a broad range of core capabilities, enabling it to manufacture and rigorously test a diverse array of equipment. It has particular expertise in pipe welding and mechanical fitting, which are central to the projects it undertakes. Additionally, the company offers in-house Level 2 weld inspection and non-destructive testing (NDT) services, ensuring the highest standards of quality and reliability across all work.

The role:

• Develop robust, compliant design solutions from client specifications and national standards
• Create detailed 3D computer-aided design (CAD) models (Inventor or SolidWorks) and 2D manufacturing drawings (AutoCAD)
• Produce and verify design calculations to ensure accuracy and safety
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including projects, production and supply chain
• Apply lessons learned and continuously improve design processes
• Support project delivery within budget, quality and time targets.

Requirements:

• Degree in engineering or a similar discipline
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Inventor and Microsoft Excel
• Strong mechanical design knowledge (experience with pressure systems, pumps and pipework is a plus)
• Logical, analytical and innovative problem-solving skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Hours of work:

• 37.5 hours per week
• Monday-Thursday: 8.00 am-5.00 pm and Friday: 8.00 am-12.00 pm.
