A company with a rich heritage spanning almost 200 years and global recognition as a market-leading provider of bespoke solutions to the renewable energy and power plant sector is now seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Mechanical Maintenance Technician to complement its established and successful Sleaford-based team.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Mechanical Maintenance Technician will work on an 8.00 am to 4.30 pm Monday to Friday basis and be responsible for the mechanical planned preventative and reactive breakdown maintenance and repair activities and the coordination of third-party suppliers, ensuring the plant is maintained with respect to safety, environmental, OEM and industry-recognised best practice guidelines in order to deliver the highest levels of availability, reliability and efficiency.

The successful Mechanical Maintenance Technician will undertake practical application and timely diagnosis, fault finding and scheduled/unscheduled repair and maintenance activities on all mechanical plant and systems, ensuring that all planned and reactive maintenance work is completed and updated within the CMMS and that relevant site engineering and maintenance procedures and management instructions are complied with at all times, undertaking reviews of such documents as required. The role also involves providing support and input into the site’s engineering integrity strategy and asset risk register, for all mechanical assets.

The successful candidate will undertake and support the daily PPM activities in line with the agreed CMMS plan, liaising with HSEQ and operations colleagues and submitting the required CMMS/Safety System documents and RAMS within the locally agreed time frames, as well as undertaking proactive measures to improve plant reliability, efficiency and performance, while maintaining overall plant integrity in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. The Mechanical Maintenance Technician will own or provide contract ownership to a number of third-party contract providers to assist in the delivery of all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities, which will potentially include but not be limited to:

  • LOLER and PSSR WSE – cranes/SaFed lift service, tackle and ladder inspection
  • TSA, NDT and VA
  • Access and insulation/valve and pump/air compressors and dryers
  • Oil and grease supplies and lubrication schedule and general building maintenance and civils and steam turbines, combustion systems, generators and flue gas emission abatement
  • HVAC, LEV and fire extinguishers
  • Workshop machines including hydraulic and pneumatic tooling (HAV)
  • Ensure the mechanical spares, including strategic spares, are controlled, replenished in line with agreed levels and secured at all times
  • Experience of permit to work and safety systems/WSE (LOLER/PSSR).

To be considered for this varied and challenging role, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will be qualified to at least ONC level in mechanical engineering and will have at least four years of previous practical thermal/process plant operational experience along with a good understanding of all HSE aspects. A full UK driving licence is essential for the position, as is the ability to work on a shift basis if required.
