A temporary vacancy for an engineer for in-service NDT has arisen with a company based in Filton. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development of general and specific inspection procedures (non-destructive testing manual) used by A/C operators and have full accountability for the delivery of feasibility studies, technical notes, inspection reports and qualification test documentation to support the delivery of procedures. The successful NDT In-Service Specialist will be responsible for contributing to the development of NDT methods for in-service applications and have full accountability for the delivery of test results and other real-time support to customer service queries.

Tasks and accountabilities:
  • Manage the list of feasibility studies and inspection procedures to be developed under the scope of the role, prepare progress reports and plan reports for the following months
  • Provide support to technical qualifications (ie probability of detection) for new NDT methods or applications for manufacturing or in-service applications. Support and optimise technical qualifications by means of CIVA NDT simulation software
  • Support the development of new procedures during the structural tests and teardown stages to prepare their potential application on in-service conditions.
  • This role will involve some business travel once a trimester in Europe and, as such, the successful candidate must be able to travel accordingly.

Skills and experience:

  • Educated to Bachelor degree level (or equivalent) in physics, engineering or a related technical discipline
  • One to three years’ experience in NDT (phased array ultrasonic testing (PAUT) experience will be considered)
  • Experience with project management
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Open-minded and open to receiving ideas, proposals or criticism from other colleagues
  • Adaptable to different work environments, cultures and approaches
  • Capable of working in a transnational team with the operational manager sitting abroad
  • Self-organised as there is no micromanagement in the team.

The initial contract is for 12 months and the successful candidate will be expected to work a 35-hour week, for which the hourly rate is £30 (Ltd Company) or £23.19 (PAYE).
