Job details:
A full-time NDT Radiographer is sought to work in a castings section based in Stoke-on-Trent; however, work may also be required in Newcastle-under-Lyme. Applicants are required to be certificated to PCN Level 2 in radiography. Radiographers certificated to Level 1 may be considered, subject to experience.

The main duties detailed are essential; however, training can be provided for the additional duties. 

Main duties:
  • Perform radiography using iridium/cobalt sources
  • Develop radiographs
  • View and sanction radiographs against Def Stan, ASTM or other acceptance standards (for both internal and subcontractors)
  • Produce radiographic techniques and arrange Level 3 approval
  • Manage the radiography load and use subcontractors when required
  • For non-compliant castings, sanction repairs or rejection
  • Create radiography documentation, including radiographic reports
  • When required, discuss radiography results with customer and witness inspection
  • Manage equipment maintenance to ensure safe and reliable operation.
Additional tasks:
  • Perform liquid penetrant inspection when required
  • Maintain heat treatment records (digital charts)
  • Manage radiographic storage and purchase radiography consumables
  • Maintain and keep up-to-date records of the radiographic film developer machine
  • Arrange the purchase, installation and approved disposal of radiographic sources
  • Liaise with local environmental agencies to ensure compliance with legislation relating to site radiography operation
  • Drive a forklift truck
  • Create wall thickness maps using ultrasonic testing or other measurement tools.
