Job details:
Protect the business from quality concerns, provide measurements and control of components and finished valves, while collecting accurate data to support priority areas for improvement.

Key responsibilities and specific accountabilities:
  • Carry out dimensional and visual inspection of components and assemblies
  • Undertake validation and control of inspection, test and witness activities
  • Create non-conformance reports
  • Provide containment on quality concerns
  • Maintain and control calibration of company equipment (including system)
  • Assist in the general operation of the Quality Control Department
  • Assist in the internal audit process to ensure adherence
  • Represent the company with customers, auditors and third-party inspectors to ensure smooth operation of on-site client inspection/witness
  • Provide technical assistance and problem resolution on customer, auditors and third-party internal quality control issues
  • Develop and drive process improvement towards excellence
  • Undertake assignments as directed by the Quality Control Coordinator
  • Customer/supplier contact, either directly with the customer or with third-party inspectors
  • Ensure use of calibrated gauges
  • Operate in line with the vision set out by the Quality Control Department.
  • Goods receiving, in process and final inspection
  • Ensure all work personally undertaken is carried out in compliance with current health & safety rules and company safety systems, and is in line with the requirements of the company’s duty of care document.

Education and/or experience:
  • Time-served apprentice to graduate level qualification with a quality/manufacturing background
  • Valve/process industry experience an advantage
  • Experience in the use of quality tools
  • Experienced user of computerised maintenance management systems (CMMs), mechanical and electrical inspection measuring equipment, hardness testing and positive material identification (PMI)
  • Knowledge of alloys, casting, non-destructive testing (NDT), welding and coating processes would be advantageous.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
  • IT literate in Microsoft packages. SAP experience an advantage.
