A leading manufacturer of complex components, supplying sectors including aerospace, automotive and energy, has a new opportunity for an NDT Inspector. With previous experience working in precision engineering, suitable candidates should have proven knowledge in magnetic particle inspection and fluorescent penetrant inspection. The position involves ensuring regular and appropriate testing and inspection of the final product prior to release to customers.

The role will be commutable from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Motherwell, Kirkcaldy, Perth, Stirling, Bathgate and Livingston.

The role:
Reporting to the Quality Director, the Quality Inspector will be tasked with overseeing all NDT operations to verify products and parts manufactured and ensure they meet with customer requirements and regulations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee the NDT team, ensuring appropriate training, examination and certification of inspectors and records
  • Sequence NDT inspections
  • Maintain accreditations
  • Perform internal and external NDT audits
  • Identify, develop and implement new NDT procedures/techniques in line with continuous improvement activities
  • Review NDT requirements for any new business
  • Ensure the quality of parts being carried out by inspectors
  • Develop good customer relationships and actively participate in contract review processes.

The candidate:

Candidates will ideally be PCN Level 3 certificated and must have experience of fluorescent dye penetrant and magnetic particle inspection. Candidates at Level 2 will be considered provided they are looking to progress to Level 3. Candidates must be highly organised and have good working knowledge of all NDT processes and techniques and have extensive knowledge of etching inspection.

With excellent planning and communications skills, the successful Quality Inspector will have the ability to work to strict deadlines, organise resources and prioritise the workload accordingly among the NDT team.

The successful candidate will have good PC skills, including Word/Excel, and use their own initiative to make decisions and improve processes.

Part-time work may also be considered.
