A company providing a broad range of testing, inspection and certification services to ensure the safety, reliability and regulatory compliance of engineering assets throughout their lifecycle is seeking experienced Storage Tank Inspectors/NDT Technicians to join its growing industrial team and provide inspection and assessment of above- ground flat-bottomed storage tanks.
If the successful candidates contribute their experience to the company, they will experience a surprisingly broad spectrum of national and international challenges, all of which are associated with safety, efficiency and sustainability.
The successful candidates can be based in the North West, North East, southern area or Scotland, dependent on home location.

Job description:- Examination of storage tanks as per inspection plan/schemes
- Undertaking and/or overseeing necessary non-destructive testing (NDT) for inspections
- Coordination of third-party NDT providers for extensive requirements or specialist techniques
- Assessment and grading of defects found from inspection and helping to determine remedial actions/ recommendations
- Assistance in the specification and coordination of repairs
- Preparation and issue of inspection reports and certificates, including all necessary supporting documents such as photographs, NDT reports and assessment calculations
- Liaison with client contacts regarding inspection planning and execution
- Working strictly in accordance with recognised safe systems of work, including permit to work (PTW), risk assessment method statements (RAMS) and confined space entry (CSE) procedures.
Requirements:- An engineering technical qualification, for example an Ordinary National Certificate (ONC), Higher National Certificate (HNC), National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 4, BTech or a degree
- Desired – Certified Engineering Equipment and Materials Users Association (EEMUA) 159 tank assessor or inspector. Candidates holding an API 653 qualification may also be considered. There is also the opportunity for the successful candidate to be fully trained and supported in achieving the EEMUA 159 certification
- NDT certified in ultrasonic testing (UT) and surface flaw detection, including penetrant testing (PT) and magnetic particle testing (MT). Certifications such as PCN are considered advantageous
- Mechanical engineering background
- Understanding of engineering principles
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Eye for detail
- Ability to accurately follow procedures
- Courage to make (and defend) difficult decisions
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently
- Ambition to learn and progress
- Willingness to travel and work on client sites throughout the UK, with the potential for occasional overseas assignments when required
- An understanding of fabrication processes and non-destructive testing methods is desirable
- Experience of the chemical and/or the oil & gas industry is desirable.
