EDF Energy is currently seeking motivated and enthusiastic individuals to establish and deliver a condition monitoring programme, as part of a broader performance monitoring programme, at Dungeness B Power Station. The successful candidate(s) will join the Engineering Department reporting to the Components & Programmes Group Head.  

Nature and scope:
EDF Energy is seeking individuals with experience of the following: initial deployment of performance/condition monitoring programmes, establishing the equipment to be monitored, selecting the techniques/parameters to be used, determining the use of technology to detect early changes in plant condition and acceptance/action criteria and the routine operation itself, including data collection, analysis and production of recommended actions.

Performance Monitoring Programme Lead is responsible for:
  • Designing, coordinating, promoting and overseeing the programme, working with stakeholders across the station.
  • Encouraging System Engineers to determine and review programme scope.
  • Ensuring equipment and systems are available.
  • Routinely chairing local and fleet performance forums.

Condition Monitoring Programme Engineer is responsible for:

  • Selecting and managing equipment, software, databases and liaising with Central Engineering.
  • Determining alert/alarm acceptance limits and adjusting as necessary.
  • Ensuring measurements are performed and recorded with associated operational data into appropriate databases by liaising with Work Management, Maintenance and Operations.
  • Routinely performing condition monitoring trending.

Condition Monitoring Analysis Engineer is responsible for:

  • Routinely performing analysis, trending, diagnosing faults and proposing corrective actions as a result of results showing operation outside of acceptable limits.
  • Configuring equipment, software and databases.

Condition Monitoring Measurement Engineer is responsible for:

  • Routinely collecting data, condition monitoring the plant and identifying measurement shortcomings.
  • Performing initial screening for data outside acceptance limits.
  • Routinely uploading the collected and associated operational data into the appropriate databases.

Skills and qualifications:

The successful candidate(s) for this role will be required to have excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, be self-motivated with a positive attitude and able to work under their own initiative. Enthusiasm, drive and ability to facilitate change are as important to the role as innovation to improve station performance. The successful candidate(s) will be also be required to demonstrate the ability to build effective networks and relationships to influence at all levels both, internally and externally to the station, to support programme goals.

Candidates qualified in, or with experience of, vibration monitoring, oil analysis, thermography, acoustic emission/ultrasonics, motor current signature analysis and lubrication schedules will have an advantage.

As a minimum, applicants will have a relevant HNC (or equivalent). Candidates with a relevant degree may have an advantage.
