A leading manufacturer of components for the aerospace industry, with a strong presence both domestically and on a global basis, is looking to recruit an X-ray Inspector. Opportunities for progression are strong both at site and group level. There will be progressive training and the opportunity to undertake initial and continual formal training and examinations at the nominated off-site training school.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the X-ray Inspector will be part of a team responsible for:

  • Understanding relevant codes, standards and control documents, ensuring full compliance at all times
  • Setting up and standardising equipment to process components through the X-ray process
  • Utilising agreed customer and data card techniques/specifications
  • Interpreting and evaluating the acceptance/rejection of components
  • Documenting all results accordingly
  • Conducting regular system performance checks
  • Providing training, coaching and mentoring
  • Investigating and documenting any issues or non-compliances
  • Reading and understanding engineering drawings
  • Undertaking regular maintenance and record-keeping on key equipment
  • Being part of the focal team for any NDT certification audits
  • Adhering to the health & safety ionising radiation regulations
  • Maintenance and operation of the radiograph processor
  • Writing technique instructions.
The person:

Based out of the Blackburn office, the successful X-ray Inspector will need the following skill set:

  • X-ray experience
  • Relevant qualifications
  • Effective communication skills and ability to interact at all levels
  • Flexible and willing to rotate across the business where required
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative as required
  • Confidence to challenge incorrect processes, components, etc
  • Willingness to undertake an annual medical test, both internally and with the Radiation Protection Service.
  • Aerospace experience.
The package:
  • £30,000 per annum (maximum) plus shift allowance
  • 37 hours per week with an early finish on Fridays
  • 10% pension
  • 10% death-in-service benefit
  • Sick pay.
