This is a role within the dynamic environment of SST Technology, responsible for the development and implementation of Quality and Inspection Control within the business. The company is looking for a highly capable, confident individual who can both plan and oversee critical dimensional and visual inspection of components that SST Technology manufacture, while be flexible to still support if needed. The role will work alongside Management and assist in the development of processes to control outgoing and incoming materials and components within the business. A positive, proactive approach is critical, as is the ability to work to rapidly changing requirements under extremely tight timescales.

Key responsibilities:

  • To ensure that all of the products leaving the business are fully conforming, fit for purpose and meet the quality standard as set by SST Technology, regulatory and customer requirements
  • Oversee the inspection area to include the planning and operation of all machinery, equipment and tools associated with the role, including CMMs, Romer Inspection Arms, conventional measurement equipment, relevant jigs and fixtures and documentation.
  • Liaise with relevant departments as to inspection planning in line with customer or SST Technology delivery requirements
  • Be responsible for all NDT activities and documentation and, in line with business growth, guide the organisation on new NDT technologies and their introduction
  • Be accountable for the sign-off of all products at key stages during manufacture and prior to delivery to customers
  • Manage the calibration log/system for all equipment that require calibration
  • Manage non-conformance and respective logs for products found during internal manufacture and customer returns and liaise with customers and suppliers for root cause analysis and corrective actions against the issues found
  • Understand the capabilities of existing inspection equipment and define, run, maximise and improve the potential of these items according to the business needs
  • Understand new techniques and inspection processes and introduce them in line with business growth
  • Have an active role for APQP activity related to inspection for product release or verification of product conformance during its work-in-progress stages.

  • Enthusiastic and flexible in performing a wide range of tasks within and sometimes outside of their standard job description
  • Clear open two-way communication skills, with an approachable, positive and proactive attitude
  • Methodical approach to problem solving, with excellent attention to detail
  • Familiar with all geometric tolerancing and adept at reading and understanding engineering drawings
  • Experienced in writing clear and concise standard operating procedures, process flows, quality alert documents and 8Ds
  • Experience of CMM programming, including Faro or Romer Arm programming and operation would be desirable
  • Experience of NDT techniques, CAD/CAM programming, Polyworks 3D Scanning Software is also desirable for this role
  • NDT Level 2 certification in fluorescent and/or visible penetrant is desirable.
