TRaC Global demonstrates SLDV test service
09/08/2013

Presenting considerable benefits over conventional modal testing methods, SLDV delivers test data more quickly and accurately than more time-consuming and labour-intensive traditional modal testing. It also enables the precise measurement of a test specimen at thousands of measurement points across a wide frequency range. A highly portable system, the SLDV allows measurements to be carried out at either TRaC’s UK laboratories or at customer sites.
Mark Heaven, CEO at TRaC Global, explains: “The industry now has a challenging time ahead as it tackles the issues affecting equipment support and sustainment. Innovative testing and analysis can play a key part in the transition process, ensuring equipment has the capabilities to meet the requirements of the new roles and different demands in the return to contingency.
“We are extremely pleased to be the first test-house in the UK to offer SLDV testing. Its greater accuracy and higher-resolution results allow potential fatigue issues to be identified at the pre-test stage, whilst also giving vital information for finite element analysis (FEA) validation. For example, it can accurately identify how a material’s characteristics will vary depending on frequency or temperature. It can also demonstrate if a fixture will operate as intended under vibration.”
EMC, vibration, shock and CE marking/E-marking are also all major considerations for vehicle and subsystem manufacturers on defence vehicle platforms and the group’s electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and environmental qualification experts are available for one-to-one surgeries on physical testing, as well as early stage qualification (ESQ) pre-qualification services.
