Winners
2023/2024 winner: Jakub Czerminski
The NDT Engineering Technician of the Year Award for 2023/2024 has been won by Jakub Czerminski.
Jakub began his career in non-destructive testing (NDT) in September 2019 when he started an apprenticeship with Collins Aerospace at the Goodrich site in Wolverhampton.
Throughout the apprenticeship, Jakub overcame many challenges, including a motorcycle accident in early 2020 as well as being furloughed in mid-2020. During this time, he was unable to be at work but continued his study independently from home.
After returning to site in late 2020, Jakub was able to complete training and qualify in dye penetrant inspection (DPI), magnetic particle inspection (MPI) and radiography, as well as acid etch inspection. This culminated in his end-point assessment (EPA) project and presentation, which he completed earlier this year to cap off the apprenticeship programme. Jakub also gained valuable experience going through various audits during those years training. He is now a full-time NDT Technician at Collins Aerospace and is looking forward to meeting any future challenges the role may bring.
Jakub is thrilled to be receiving this award and would like to express his gratitude to the British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing (BINDT), his tutors at Lavender International and his team members at Collins Aerospace, who each played a role in providing him with the skills and knowledge needed to reach this point.
