2022/2023 winner: Jordan Willington

The NDT Engineering Technician of the Year Award for 2022/2023 has been won by Jordan Willington.

Jordan Willington began his non-destructive testing (NDT) career in 2014 with Ultramag Inspection Services Ltd, working at its test facility in Marchwood, UK. Here, he learnt about the various inspection methods available for the testing of weldments, forgings and castings, as well as working with NDT inspectors and clients.

In 2017, Jordan completed his first NDT training course and PCN examination in visual testing. Over the next six years, he carried out lots of training and now holds an array of NDT qualifications, along with industry-specific quality and health and safety certificates.

Training is extremely important in the NDT industry and Jordan was keen to take up the opportunity of enrolling on the BINDT NDT Engineering Technician apprenticeship. Through the apprenticeship, he received training in a conventional NDT method and two complex NDT methods, significantly increasing the knowledge he had already gained. There were also quality-related modules, which helped him understand the importance of performing the inspection correctly, using international and national standards and presenting final inspection reports.

To receive the Engineering Technician of the Year Award during his ninth year in this profession is a great honour and Jordan looks forward to many more years of learning and expanding his knowledge.
