Career Break Membership
Career breaks have recently become increasingly popular and are actively encouraged by some employers in order for employees to concentrate on responsibilities that they may have outside the workplace. A career break is a period of unpaid leave from work that is agreed with the employer yet can be beneficial to both parties. The British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing (BINDT) is committed to supporting its members in fulfilling their personal commitments and professional development.
BINDT now offers members who are on a career break for caring responsibilities (including maternity/paternity leave) or health reasons to continue in full membership, free of charge for a maximum of five years.
If you are registered with the Engineering Council as a CEng, IEng or EngTech you can continue your registration whilst on a career break for a reduced annual fee.
Please note that if you hold PCN certification, after 12 months of not practising you would lose your certification.
If you are currently on a career break and wish to take advantage of this option, please email: membership@bindt.org
Notes:
1. Career breaks can only commence from the date of renewal.
2. Career breaks should be renewed annually at the time of membership renewal.
3. The maximum duration of each break is five consecutive years.
