Boccard, a leading specialist in engineering, manufacturing, construction and maintenance in the nuclear energy industry, is looking for a talented and experienced QC Weld and NDT Inspector to join its quality team as it continues its journey of growth and expansion to serve the new era of nuclear energy.
The successful QC Weld and NDT Inspector will report to the Senior Project Quality Manager and will be responsible for overseeing the quality and safety of the company’s welding, installation and fabrication activities, including dimensional inspection. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting and assessing the strength and quality of welds, ensuring the correct equipment is being used, checking weld specifications and ensuring all safety regulations are being adhered to.
The role:
- Follow and interpret procedures and specifications within the job scope
- Manage and control the inspection and test plan
- Contribute to continuous improvements
- Ensure that the work being undertaken is being carried out in line with the contract specifications and standards, through manufacture to treatment and delivery to site
- Liaise with all subcontractors and treatment works to carry out random inspections of these sites to ensure compliance to the required specifications as set out by contract and purchase orders
- Complete inspections to ensure material at goods inwards meet the required standards
- Ensure a good standard of workmanship is maintained throughout the contract
- Ensure report, visits, suppliers, subcontractors and in-house inspections are produced and recorded with contract documentation
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
Qualifications and experience:
- Recent previous experience in the nuclear sector or a heavily regulated industry
- Certification Scheme for Personnel (CSWIP) 3.1
- PCN Level 2 in magnetic testing (MT) and penetrant testing (PT)
- Ideally hold PCN Level 2 in radiographic interpretation
- Interpretation of ISO and engineering drawings
- Advanced knowledge of welding procedures and processes
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Detail conscious
- Good IT skills and the ability to use Microsoft software to create reports, presentations, end-of- install/manufacturing reports
- Ability to learn new IT software (navigate and utilise). Training will be provided
- Awareness of counterfeit, fraudulent and suspect items (CFSI)
- Must have, or be willing to undergo, security clearance to work at Hinkley Point C.
The role will be based at Hinkley Point C with some travel to Boccard’s manufacturing site in Deeside, supporting construction to ensure safe and quality welds. Pre-employment screening will be required for this role.
