Carestream NDT earns BAM certification for Industrex films with eco-friendly photochemicals
25/04/2022
Carestream’s Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) group has received certification from the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) for its Industrex films when processed in its Industrex environmentally friendly chemicals. Drawing on Carestream NDT’s extensive experience in film and photochemicals for non-destructive testing, the Industrex DX Developer and Industrex FX Fixer photochemicals produce optimal results while minimising the impact on users and the environment.
“Switching to Carestream’s new green photochemicals was motivated by the continuous effort of our company to improve our environmental impact and the protection of our employees,” said Emilio Ferrari, responsible for the NDE Department at Valvosider in Borgosesia, Italy. “Using these green chemicals for more than a year confirms this was the right choice for us.”
“NDT professionals often test a variety of materials to find defects. Carestream NDT continues to invest in reducing waste with our digital solutions and improving conventional processes and developing chemicals that take human and environmental protection to the next level,” said Philippe Moreau, APAC/EMEA General Manager at Carestream NDT. “We are the first film manufacturer to be BAM certified for our Industrex films when processed with our eco-friendly photochemicals.”
Carestream NDT’s Industrex DX Developer and Industrex FX Fixer are fully registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemicals (REACH) compliant. The odourless hydroquinone-free developer and borate-free fixer are suitable for all Carestream NDT film processors and can be used for manual or automatic processing. These highly concentrated solutions also reduce packaging waste and are available in two fully recyclable, five-litre containers of concentrate that make 40 litres of ready-to-use solution.
The Industrex DX Developer and Industrex FX Fixer have a shelf-life of two years, similar to other Industrex chemicals. These eco-friendly chemicals also reduce the cleaning time of processing machines. Furthermore, the solutions do not impact processed film life expectancy, ensuring secure archiving.
“There are no transportation restrictions for road, rail, water or air. They are temperature stable, making them ideal for service providers or mobile labs performing non-destructive testing in multiple countries,” Mr Moreau added. “And since the use and processing parameters are identical to standard chemicals, customers don’t need to make any modifications. Making the switch to Carestream NDT eco-friendly chemicals is an easy process.”
