Element expands further into German calibration market with KDK acquisition
11/06/2021
Element Materials Technology (Element) has acquired Kalibrierdienst Kopp GmbH (KDK), a market-leading calibration and measurement services provider, significantly strengthening the Group’s calibration business in Germany.KDK’s 40-strong team of experts has served the automotive and general engineering industries for over 25 years, operating from its well-invested, DakkS-accredited headquarters located in Wiesloch, Germany. The business has an impressive track record of long-term customer relationships with leading blue chip companies and is ideally located in the north Baden-Württemberg region, ensuring close proximity to key target customers and giving Element easy entry into the German industrial hub in the south.
While Element Metech currently holds a strong share of the calibration market in northern Europe, there is a significant growth opportunity in Germany, which is forecast to grow more rapidly than any other country in the region over the next five years. Metech Germany will also benefit from KDK’s ISO 17025:2018 accreditation, enabling it to offer a far broader range of capabilities to Element Metech’s current customer base.
Matt Hopkinson, EVP EMEAA, said: “I am very pleased to welcome KDK into the Group. This acquisition is an important strategic step for our calibration offering in Europe, placing Element in a much stronger position in the German marketplace by bolstering our network of specialist facilities and our globally established brand. Our further expansion into the German market will provide us with the opportunity to better service both existing and new customers.
“The expansion of our service offering in Germany is an exciting milestone in the development of our calibration business, demonstrating our ambitious growth plans for the region.”
Wolfgang Kopp, KDK CEO, commented: “I am delighted that KDK will be joining Element. We will bring a set of new capabilities and customers to this well-established European leader in calibration services and look forward to joining Element’s network of global experts and customers. We are also glad to have found a new home to provide continuity and development for all employees and customer relationships.
“With its impressive growth and its track record in integrating new businesses, we look forward to becoming a valued part of the Group and helping to drive the growth of Element’s German calibration business.”
