UK’s innovation agency to share in £270 million ‘quantum technologies’ funding pot
06/01/2014
An investment to encourage the development of quantum technologies (QT) will consolidate and build on the UK’s lead in this new technology. The Government will invest £270 million in a national network of five quantum technology centres. This will strengthen existing UK clusters of expertise and maximise recent investments in this key technology of the future.Quantum technologies are the next step on from nano technology and harness the laws of physics in a profoundly different way. They create entirely new ways of communicating, measuring and processing information that are beyond the capability of classical systems. Quantum technologies already deliver satellite navigation, data storage and encryption – future industries will be built on these capabilities.
