A Quality Manager is sought to join a well-established client based in Ocker Hill, Tipton, on a full-time permanent basis. On offer is the opportunity to take on a senior role in a high-integrity, regulated manufacturing environment, with real opportunities for career development and progression.

Duties:

  • Lead the quality function across project and operational domains, including dimensional control, non-destructive testing (NDT), weld quality and quality engineering
  • Develop, implement and maintain a fully integrated quality management system aligned with ISO 9001, ISO 3834 and industry requirements
  • Prepare, review and maintain project quality plans (PQPs), inspection and test plans (ITPs), welding quality documentation and lifetime records
  • Conduct and lead root cause investigations, corrective and preventive action (CAPA)and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure calibration, traceability and maintenance of all quality-critical equipment and gauges
  • Provide hands-on quality support to production and engineering teams, promoting a right-first-time culture
  • Participate in daily safety, quality, delivery, cost and people (SQDCP) review meetings and take prompt actions to prevent production disruption
  • Support the set-up of a new manufacturing facility, including embedding quality processes in facility layout, line design and inspection checkpoints
  • Maintain audit readiness, lead internal audits and ensure compliance with regulatory and customer requirements
  • Represent the quality function during client audits, inspections and cross-functional project reviews
  • Mentor and coach the quality team and operational staff in quality standards and behaviours.

Essential skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in quality assurance, engineering or a related subject
  • Proven experience working as a Quality Manager or Senior Quality Engineer within highly regulated, high-integrity manufacturing environments, such as those found in the aerospace, defence or similarly safety-critical and standards-driven industries
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 3834, EN 1090 and industry quality frameworks
  • Lead/internal auditor experience in ISO 9001
  • Experience generating and managing non-conformance reports (NCRs), quality control (QC) grading and lifetime records
  • Hands-on experience in dimensional inspection, 
    non-destructive testing, welding quality and quality system implementation
  • Strong practical problem-solving skills and use of Lean Six Sigma or other structured problem-solving methodologies: define, measure, analyse, improve and control (DMAIC), 8D, failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), statistical process control (SPC), 5S and 7W
  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Able to secure baseline personnel security standard (BPSS) and security check (SC) clearance (conditional requirement).

Desirable experience:

  • Experience in the set-up of new manufacturing facilities and quality management system roll-out
  • Membership of a professional body (for example Chartered Quality Institute (CQI)) or willingness to attain an engineering qualification is desirable.

Shifts: 

  • Monday-Friday: 8.00 am-5.00 pm (39 hours per week).
