Award criteria


Purpose: Awarded to the NDT Operator apprentice achieving an excellent result at their end-point assessment in the year in question.

Details of the award: A certificate, £100 cash and an invitation to the NDT/CM Annual Conference Dinner with one night’s accommodation.

Eligibility: A BINDT apprentice who has achieved an excellent result at their end-point assessment in the year in question.

Nomination arrangements: The winner will be selected using the EPA scoring system.

2024/2025 winner: Sam McMahon

The NDT Operator of the Year Award for 2024/2025 has been won by Sam McMahon.

Sam is a dedicated and skilled Level 2 radiographer currently working at Pudsey Test and Inspection, where he has been for over two and a half years. With a strong background in quality control, Sam previously worked as an inspector for radiators used in agricultural vehicles. This prior experience honed his keen attention to detail and a deep understanding of industry standards, which he now applies in his role as a radiographer.

At Pudsey, Sam is responsible for ensuring the integrity and quality of various components through precise radiographic testing, playing a vital role in maintaining safety and compliance within the industry. His transition from inspecting agricultural vehicle parts to radiographic inspection highlights a smooth evolution of skills, where both roles demand a high degree of technical knowledge and a commitment to excellence.

Driven by a passion for accuracy and continuous learning, Sam continues to build on his skills in the radiography field, contributing to the success and reputation of Pudsey Test and Inspection.
