Aerotech Laboratories Ltd is UKAS- and Nadcap-accredited for laboratory chemical testing services and provides conformance checks of NDT materials and consumables. These checks are carried out on in-service materials including fluorescent dye penetrants, emulsifiers and developers to all major aerospace specifications.
The checks performed include:- Fluorescent brightness (or fluorescent intensity)
- Water content (by distillation method, ASTM D95 or Karl Fischer)
- Penetrant removability (washability)
- Viscosity of magnetic ink fluid
- Penetrant specific gravity
- Penetrant sensitivity
- Penetrant remover (emulsifier) concentration
- Control of dry developer (contamination and condition)
- Penetrant remover (emulsifier) removability
- Visual checks for contamination and colour.
