Direct Conversion AB designs and manufactures advanced photon-counting detector technology for industrial and medical X-ray imaging. Based in Stockholm, Sweden, the company was created by combining the world-class technical expertise of two respected imaging brands: Ajat (Finland) and XCounter (Sweden).
Direct Conversion’s unique pixelated hybrid detector technology combines highly sensitive direct converting CdTe detector material with advanced signal processing in its proprietary electronic circuitry (ASIC), on a small scale, at very high precision.
The detectors are characterised by their extremely high speed (up to 2000 fps) of operation and their ability to handle clinically relevant X-ray fluxes (up to 109 events/s/mm²). In addition, the software provides all the necessary corrections for artefact-free imaging. As a result, they produce sharper images and a better signal-to-noise ratio than conventional detectors and enable spectral imaging to better separate different materials.
