TWI is a global leader in technology engineering and is respected for its expertise, professionalism, impartiality and confidentiality. TWI works with the most influential companies worldwide, across all industry sectors. One of TWI’s strengths is its ability to act as a ‘one stop shop’ able to provide end-to-end support for the manufacturing process, from simulation and modelling, through welding and joining, materials and structural analysis, destructive and non-destructive evaluation, to training and certification.

TWI has been at the forefront of non-destructive evaluation (NDE) of structures and components for more than 40 years. The NDE Technology Group has grown to over 50 engineers and technicians specialising in research and development, application and qualification of inspection technologies aimed at providing cutting-edge solutions to the NDE challenges faced by all industry sectors. As an impartial organisation, TWI is also able to provide provisions as an independent qualification body and undertake third-party audits.

TWI’s aim is to provide cost savings and reliability assurance to customers through the development of innovative inspection solutions and by interfacing with related technologies, such as engineering critical assessment, risk-based inspection strategies, reliability analysis and repair procedure development, and then deliver those inspection solutions to the client.

Equipment available includes large multi-axis robotic inspection cells, microfocus X-ray CT, digital radiography, phased array UT, advanced ultrasonics including full matrix capture (FMC), scanning acoustic microscopy (SAM), acoustic emission (AE) monitoring, electromagnetics, eddy current array and automated inspection, in addition to the conventional methods. Inspection simulation and modelling is carried out using CIVA, Beamtool, iSee, aRTist and FEA.

TWI also offers a wide range of training products (in-class, blended learning and live options) through TWI Training & Examination Services and the TWI Virtual Academy.
