Flicq and Ioetec cooperate

Flicq Inc, a Californian innovator in Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) solutions, and Ioetec Ltd, a UK-based security company focused on securing the Internet of Everything (IoE), have announced that they are cooperating on providing end-to-end security from the edge to the cloud.

As the Internet of Things (IoT) grows, there are an increasing number of sensor-based devices that are being interconnected. This provides an ever-growing attack surface for hackers and malware, risking damage to valuable industrial assets and businesses. In areas such as banking, large central servers are protected by measures such as transport layer security (TLS), but such methods are not well suited to IoT devices that are usually very constrained in terms of computational resources. As a result, many IoT edge devices have poor security due to inadequate authentication and encryption, among other factors.

As part of the cooperation, Ioetec will implement a version of its multi-layer authentication and encryption solution on Flicq’s platform. This approach implements all 13 steps of the ‘Secure by Design’ requirements of the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sports (DCMS), ensuring the integrity, confidentiality and accessibility of data. Flicq’s approach to the IIoT is to provide intelligence at the edge, thereby having adequate computational resources for Ioetec’s security software.

Flicq offers a range of wireless sensors, including vibration, acoustic, ultrasonic and current/power, and supports a choice of connectivity, including Wi-Fi, 3G/4G cellular and LoRaWAN.
