Trafikverket awards condition monitoring contract

The Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket) has awarded Vossloh a multi-year contract to equip 1000 sets of turnouts with condition monitoring sensors.

The work will be carried out jointly alongside German Rail (DB)’s engineering subsidiary, DB System Technology.

The sensors will enable Trafikverket to monitor the turnouts through Vossloh’s cloud-based digital platform and will facilitate predictive maintenance, helping to prevent more costly corrective maintenance activities and supporting increases in capacity on the Swedish network.

“The resulting higher availability of tracks is a central requirement for shifting more traffic to the railway in the future,” said Mr Oliver Schuster, CEO of Vossloh. “Only in this way will it be possible to achieve ambitious climate targets in the medium term.”
