Computed tomography system

Zeiss has introduced an entry-level computed tomography (CT) solution for the non-destructive inspection of parts in a compact system that is said to deliver precise results and is easy to operate.

Many companies have already come to value the advantages of non-destructive inspection. However, small and medium-sized companies often view computed tomography as being too complex.

With the computed tomography Zeiss Metrotom 1 system, Zeiss has developed an entry-level solution that is simple to operate and to use for inspections. An operator places the parts to be inspected in the system, presses the button and analyses the measurement results. As a result of this simplicity, little time is required to learn how to use the machine.

From capturing 3D volume data to analysing it, the GOM Volume Inspect software guarantees users easy operation of the new computed tomography system. It is perfectly matched to the hardware and the latest version is equipped with many more volume functions. Investing in additional software for a detailed analysis of the measurement data is not necessary.

The device does not require maintenance, meaning that the operating costs are low. The compact machine measures 175 cm wide and 87 cm deep, should fit in every laboratory and can be used to measure small to medium-sized parts made of plastic or light metal, such as connectors, plastic caps or aluminium castings.

Zeiss believes it has developed a unique product that makes it easy for users to benefit from non-destructive inspection. In this sense, it has the potential to make the advantages of CT available to many more customers and thus contribute to their success.
